Postal Dept. will celebrate 'World Post Day' and 'National Postal Week' from 9-15 October

Postal Department has come a long way from the times of ‘Daak Runners’ to the age of Computers. Today, various new techniques have been invented through Information and Communication Technology but the Department of Posts has maintained its market share through innovative use of modern technology, range of diverse products based on modern ICT. It has also utilized its vast network through collaborations with various organizations and sale of their products and services through Post Offices, said Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav, Director Postal Services, Allahabad Region. He told that World Post Day is celebrated each year on 9th October, the anniversary of the establishment of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in 1874 in the Swiss capital, Bern. It was declared World Post Day by the UPU Congress held in Tokyo, Japan, in 1969.



Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav, Director Postal Services, Allahabad Region said that Allahabad Postal Region and its other Postal Divisions will celebrate the World Post Day and National Postal Week from 9th to 15 October, 2014. 

During National Postal Week, 9th October (World Post day), 10th October (Savings Bank Day), 11th October (Mail Day), 13th October (Philately Day), 14th October (Business Development Day) and 15th October (Postal Life Insurance Day) will be celebrated, said Mr. Yadav. 

During this ceremony all out efforts will be made to popularize Postal Services and earn maximum revenue. Other than these, Customer meets, visit of Post Offices by school students, letter writing, quiz and painting competitions, workshop for the promotion of Philately as a hobby among the youth, Savings Bank and Postal Life Insurance Melas and honoring of personnel’s/ institutions for their contribution in revenue realization of the department will also be held added Mr. KK Yadav. Cleanness-campaigen of Post Offices and Mail Offices will also be an important aspect during this Postal week.
