Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav, Director Postal Services, Allahabad Region said that for a long time Dept. of Post has been offering Philatelic Products through Philatelic Bureaus and Philatelic Counters across the country. But with this tie-up with e-commerce companies like Snapdeal, India Post wants to broaden its reach to the new generation of tech savvy youths and netizens. Mr. Yadav added that to popularize Philately and offers its products in a better way Dept. of Post has also launched a dedicated website http://postagestamps.gov.in, which has all the details about philatelic stamps, such as History of Philately in India, link to purchase stamps online through Snapdeal and e-Post office portal, Stamps issue Calendar, details of Stamps since 1947, various guidelines, forms etc.
Mr. Yadav also told that the items offered by Department of Posts are available on www.snapdeal.com under the category ‘Antiques and Collectibles’. The items on sale include, Philatelic Stamps issued by Department of Posts on Mahatma Gandhi, Sachin Tendulkar, FIFA World Cup, 100 years of Indian Cinema, Collector pack of the year-2013 and many other popular stamps.
