Special initiative by Jodhpur Postal Region to cover 54 villages as ‘Sampoorn Sukanya Samridhhi Village’ under 'Beti bachao, Beti padhao’

Under the ‘Beti bachao, Beti padhao’ drive started by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Jodhpur Postal Region has taken special initiative to cover maximum eligible girls under the scheme by opening maximum number of accounts and making so many villages as ‘Sampoorn Sukanya Samridhhi Village’.

 Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav, Director Postal Services, Rajasthan Western Region, Jodhpur told that we have covered 54 villages as ‘Sampoorn Sukanya Samridhhi Village’ by enrolling all eligible girls under the scheme and not only this, we are also making efforts to cover new born baby girls by approaching parents at the time of birth through Village  Postman. Presently One lakh fifty seven thousand accounts have been opened under the said scheme in the Post offices of Jodhpur Region in which an amount of Rs. 77 Crores approx has been deposited so far, said Mr. Yadav.

It is well known that under the ‘Beti bachao, Beti padhao’ drive, the Sukanya Samridhi Yojna was launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the year 2015 whereby an account can be opened at any Post Office in the name of girl child whose age group falls between her birth and up to the age of 10 year. A minimum of Rs. 1000/- & maximum Rs. 1.50 lacs can be deposited in one financial year and the amount shall be deposited up to the 15 years from the date of opening. Further discussing features of scheme, Mr. Yadav told that half of the amount at credit in the account can be taken out as withdrawal when the girl child reaches the age of 18 years and maturity amount can be withdrawn after completion of 21 years. The current rate of interest payable on the account is 8.4% and the amount deposited under the scheme throughout the year is Tax exempted.

Jodhpur Postal Division have declared eight villages as ‘Sampoorn Sukanya Samridhhi Village’, namely Shikarpura, Agolai, Ketu Kalla, Birai, Samrao, Sandelao, Dimpasaria, Jamba. We are making more efforts to cover maximum villages under the scheme, said Mr. Yadav,

Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav, Director Postal Services, Rajasthan Western Region, Jodhpur said that Sukanya Samriddhi Yojna is not only medium of making investment but it is also helpful for the bright and prosperous future of girl child and to make them socially and economically strong. The amount deposited under the scheme would be beneficial for the higher education, career and marriage of the girl child and this is a step to save the girl child as well as to strengthen the Women Empowerment Mission of nation.
