ALLAHABAD: The postal deprtment will observe the World Post Day and 'National Postal Week. Presently various new techniques are invented in Information and Communication revolution but the department of posts has maintained its existence for the distribution and sale of various organisations through its vast network and exchange of new techniques from time to time.
Director Postal Services, Allahabad Region Krishna Kumar Yadav, said the World Post Day is celebrated every year on October 9. It marks the establishment of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in 1874 in the Swiss capital, Bern. It was declared World Post Day by the UPU Congress held in Tokyo, Japan, in 1969.
He said that in Allahabad Postal Region and its postal divisions are also celebrating the World Post Day and National Postal Week from October 9 to 15. A programme has been organised by the Department of Posts on the occasion of World Post Day on Tuesday, wherein institutions providing the excellent business revenue to the department will be honoured.
During National Postal Week October 10 (Savings Bank Day), October 11 (Mail Day), October 12 (Philately Day) October 13 (Business Development Day) and October 15 (Postal Life Insurance Day) will be organised. Yadav said during this ceremony efforts will not only be made to popularize and revenue realization of the Postal Services but customer meet, visit of post offices by school students, letter writing, quiz for the promotion of hobbies in respect of philately in the youth, savings bank and Postal Life Insurance Melas and honouring of personnel/institutions for providing the best revenue to the department will also be held.
