Postal Department issued commemorative postage stamp on Children’s day

Keeping the tradition of last years, Department of Posts has issued a commemorative postage stamp, on Children’s day, 14th November, 2013 to make the Children’s day memorable for the Children. Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav, Director Postal Services of Allahabad Region told that this Postage Stamp issued on Children’s Day is depicted on winning entries selected from the of “Design a stamp” competition organized by the Department of Posts every year.

Director Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav further said that Children’s day, which is celebrated on Birth Anniversary of Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, is a tribute to childhood and it is a festival of zeal and enthusiasm. Children’s day is to remind all young and adults about children’s right to enjoy their childhood without any restrictions and to be an educated grown-up in future. The values and disciplines learned as a child are imperative for the kind of person one becomes. This Postage Stamp is based on the same theme.

Director Mr. Yadav told that this stamp, issued on the theme for last year’s ‘Design a stamp’ competition ‘Holiday’, has been issued in the denominations of Rs. 5/-. and 8.1 lakh stamps have been printed at India Security Press, Nasik by wet offset printing process. These Postage Stamps will be made available at the Philatelic Bureaus of Allahabad and Varanasi along with all Philatelic Bureaus and Philatelic Counters across the country. First day cover and information brochure have also been issued along with postage stamps.
