Postal Dept. made arrangements for Speedy transmission of Postal Ballots

The soldiers guarding the frontiers of the country are also worried about the things happening at his home, at his town and in his country. It is his dire wish that he can vote. Here Postal ballots come to the scene. Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav, Director Postal Services, Allahabad Region told that As per provisions of election law, the members of the armed Forces of the Union, Central Armed Police Forces and State Armed Police forces posted outside the State, who are registered as a voter in the voters' list of their native place, can cast their vote from their place of posting through Postal Ballot paper. All postal ballots for these voters will be printed within 24 hours of finalization of list of contesting candidates and kept ready for dispatch with all other documents within the next 24 hours through the Post Offices to the Record Offices of various services. 

Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav, Director Postal Services, Allahabad Region said that Department of Posts has make the arrangement for issue of postal ballots to the service voters received from returning officer of each constituency and receipt of postal ballots by post for returning officer of each constituency. The Divisional Head of all the Divisions are nominated as nodal officer who will coordinate with the concerned returning officer. The postal ballots for service voters are handed over to the Returning Officer/Asst. Returning Officer of each constituency to a designated employee of the postal department nominated for this purpose. The postal ballots will be booked under registered post/speed post. For speedy transmission of postal ballots the label of CRC/Speed Post Bag has been mentioned the word "Election Urgent", added Mr. Yadav.

Director Postal Services Mr Krishna Kumar Yadav said that for receiving back postal ballots by post, the delivery post offices have been instructed  to make the same day delivery arrangement of all postal ballots to the concerned returning officer by hand through nominated officer. The record of booked public delivery of postal ballots will be maintained by the concerned post offices. Mr. Yadav added that the delivery Post Offices will make the same day delivery arrangement of all Postal Ballots to the concerned Returning Officer of that particular constituency by hand through nominated officer at 3 PM every day except for the counting day when the time for delivery will be before 8 AM or such other time fixed for commencement of counting at the counting centre for that Assembly constituency.

Mr. KK Yadav said that Post offices have been sensitized to give top most priority to the delivery of envelopes containing POSTAL BALLOT PAPERS sent by post so that these are delivered to the electors and these envelops reach back to the concerned Returning Officers in the shortest possible time. Postal department have to ensure that all postal ballots for service voters are delivered to the respective record offices/army personnel within 48 hours.

 It is worth to mention that at first time even President of India Mr. Pranav Mukherjee can use postal ballot for casting his vote at South Kolkata constituency.
