Postal Assistant’s/Sorting Assistant's Direct recruitment examination successfully conducted in Uttar Pradesh

Direct Recruitment Examination of Postal Assistants / Sorting Assistant organized by Department of Posts was conducted on 01st June, 2014 in Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat Circle.  Candidates had started gathering at various centers since early morning. In Allahabad, it was conducted peacefully and smoothly on 49 centers.  Director Postal Services of Allahabad Region Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav visited various examination centers and inspected the whole process. In Uttar Pradesh Circle total 668 Postal Assistants/ Sorting Assistants and other Assistants are to be recruited. Out of which, in Allahabad Region recruitment against 92 posts are to be made.

Against 41069 applicants, a total of 31365 candidates appeared in the examination, i.e. 76% attendance was observed in Allahabad, said Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav, Director Postal Services. Maximum number of candidates appeared at Boys High School (1960), Bishop Johnson School and College, Civil Lines (1802) and Smt. Phoolpati Devi Inter College, Bamrauli (1261).

Mr. KK Yadav told that four sections of 25 marks each consisting of General Knowledge, Mathematics, English, Reasoning and Analytical Ability were there in the examination paper. This examination was of objective type. Since there was no negative marking, generally candidates attempted all of the questions. In General Knowledge section, questions like Which British General defeated Peshwa Baji Rao II, What’s the name of India’s first dedicated military satellite, What’s the India’s ranking in 2014 Environmental performance index, What’s the name of the state where country’s first Monorail service commenced its operations recently, Name the poet of Delhi Sultanate who was adorned with title of ‘The Parrot of Hindustan' were asked. Whereas in reasoning questions like, A tired lady slept at 07:45 PM. If she rose at 12 noon, for how many hours did she slept, were asked.


He further added that a candidate of General Category will be required to obtain 10 marks; Other Backward class candidate will be required to obtain 9 marks, whereas a scheduled caste candidate will be required to obtain 8 marks in each section to qualify for the next round. Candidates appearing in merit list of this written exam will have to compulsorily qualify in the computer and typing test for final selection.
