Post offices will now be acting as employment exchange for the unemployed youth. After the success of the pilot projects in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the project has been extended to nine more postal circles of the country, including Rajasthan. To begin with, Employment Registration Centres will be opened at the post offices under all these postal circles very shortly, where the interested unemployed youths will be able to get themselves registered.
Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav, Director Postal Services, Rajasthan Western Region, Jodhpur told that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Dept. of Posts and Ministry of Labour and Employment to leverage Post offices as Employment Registration Centres as a follow up to the recommendation of the Group of Secretaries, appointed by the Hon’ble Prime Minister to explore innovative ideas for transformation change in various areas of governance.

An amount of Rupees 15/- for registration, Rupees 5/- for updating Job seeker profile and Rupees 10/- for getting printout of application form will be charged by the Post Offices. Further, Mr. Yadav told that after registration Post office will provide a printout having registration number and other information to the Job seeker and no document is required to be submitted by the unemployed youth while having registration.

Mr. Yadav emphasized that National Career Service Portal facilitates registration of job seekers, job providers, skill providers, career counsellors etc. and after having registered on the portal, the unemployed youth will be able to access to rich repository of career content on over 3000 of occupations across 52 sectors. The portal will not only provide Job matching services in a highly transparent and user friendly manner but also build a bridge between a net connected urban areas and non-connected rural areas, helping the youth to avail facility to register for employment at their doorstep hassle free. Similarly, this will also provide revenue to Department of Posts.
Under the pilot phase, the Government of India has launched the project in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Circle on 12.02.2017 and on getting favorable response, it has now been decided to launch the scheme in all Head Post Offices of nine Postal Circles including Rajasthan Circle. Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav, Director Postal Services said that the necessary training with regard to above project, has been imparted to the staff and on getting formal inauguration date, the registration will be started at in all the Post Offices of the Rajasthan Circle. Along with Rajasthan, the project will also be launched in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhatisgarh, Gujrat, Tamilnadu, Jammu Kashmir & North East Postal Circle whereas the remaining circles will be covered during the next phase of project.
