Department of Posts organized a customer meet on Mails and Parcel business on 18th May, 2022. The meeting was inaugurated by Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav, Postmaster General of Varanasi Region which was held in the conference room of Varanasi Cantt Head Post Office. Details of all the innovations and facilities introduced in the field of Mails and Parcel were given through power point presentation. Postal officers interacted with representatives of various firms and important customers, their suggestions and feedbacks regarding services were taken and their problems were also resolved.
Postmaster General Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav said that Mails and Parcel are the basic services of the Department of Posts. Due to modernization of Parcel services and providing better facilities to the customers, there has been a increase of 63% in Parcel revenue in Varanasi Region during the last financial year. Booking, sorting and delivery of Parcels have been made more efficient through International Business Center, Parcel Hub, Nodal Delivery Center. Facility of online track and trace has also been provided for accountable mails. Due to the continuous growth in e-commerce, the Department of Posts has focused on modernization of Parcel services to provide better and customer oriented facilities to the customers. A new transport policy has been formulated by the Department for speedy conveyance and delivery of Mails and Parcel.
Postmaster General, Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav, while discussing about the innovation introduced and implemented regarding Parcel services, said that under the pilot project, Parcel packing units will soon be established at Varanasi and Varanasi Cantt Head Post Offices for the customers. In order to expansion of services, facility of return pickup of Parcels, OTP based delivery, booking and delivery of Parcels through smart machines will also be provided in coming days. Soon, new rates of postage fee will be implemented by reducing the charges for cash-on-delivery items and insured items. Mr. Yadav said that convenient facility to book Parcel by volumetric weight for national and international destinations through cash and digital payment QR code is available in every Post Office in Varanasi Region. On-spot custom clearance facility is made available for international Parcel booking in International Business Centre at Cantt Head Post Office premises. Online dashboards have also been developed to monitor the entire process of parcel processing, which is being monitored at every level.
On this occasion, Senior Superintendent of Post Office, Varanasi East Division Mr. Rajan, Superintendent of Posts Mr. P.C. Tiwari, Assistant Director Mr. Krishna Chandra, Mr. Brajesh Sharma, Senior Postmaster Varanasi Mr. Chandrashekhar Singh Barua, Postal Inspector Mr. Shrikant Pal, Mr. V.N. Dwivedi, Postmaster of Varanasi Cantt Head Post Office Mr. RS Verma along with representatives of various corporate institutions, departments attended the meeting. Postmaster General also felicitated all the customers at the end of the programme.
