Mahila Samman Savings Certificate : Varanasi leads in Uttar Pradesh, 18.5K women invested more than Rs 93.51 crore in MSSC

Women have instantly accepted 'Mahila Samman Bachat Patra', which was started for women during the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Kaal'. In this scheme, started from April 1, 2023, more than 72 thousand women have invested approximately Rs. 6.36 billion in ten months across Uttar Pradesh. In whole Uttar Pradesh, the maximum number of 18,721 women have made a record by investing in Varanasi Region located in the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The above views were expressed by the Postmaster General of Varanasi Region Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav on the occasion of the inauguration of the feeding room specially prepared for the women employees in Varanasi Cantt Head Post Office on 6th February, 2024. Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav said that in Varanasi Region 18,721 women have invested more than Rs 93.51 crore in 'Mahila Samman Bachat Patra'.


Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav said that the Postal Department is providing all the facilities to its employees for women empowerment and respect. 'Mahila Samman Bachat Patra' and 'Sukanya Samriddhi Scheme' are also playing vital role in the women empowerment and financial inclusion. Giving concrete shape to 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao', 3.20 lakh Sukanya Samriddhi accounts have been opened in Varanasi Region, while covering all the girls up to 10 years of age in 933 villages under this scheme, they have also been transformed into 'Complete Sukanya Samriddhi Gram'.

Superintendent of Post Offices, Varanasi West Dn. Vinay Kumar said that the two-year tenure 'Mahila Samman Bachat Patra' scheme offers an attractive and fixed interest of 7.5 per cent compounded quarterly with a maximum limit of Rs. 2 lakh with flexible investment and partial withdrawal options. The scheme is valid for a period of two years till March 31, 2025. A minimum of Rs 1,000/- and a maximum of Rs 2 lakh can be invested in this.

On this occasion, Superintendent of Post Offices Varanasi West Dn. Vinay Kumar, Assistant Director R.K. Chauhan, Varanasi Cantt Postmaster Arvind Sharma, Assistant Superintendent Shrikant Pal, Postal Inspector Dilip Pandey, Aniket, Sunita Patel, Manju, Ajita, Shikha and many others were present.
