Ram Rajya on Postal stamps: Stamps on 'Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple' to 'Ramayana' issued by India Post

The glory of Lord Shri Ram is also being spread in the country and the world through postal stamps. Along with India, more than 20 countries of the world have issued postage stamps from time to time on the various characters and stories related to Ramayana. That means Ram Rajya is visible even on Postal stamps.

Postmaster General of Varanasi and Prayagraj Region Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav said that before the consecration of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi issued a set of 6 commemorative postage stamps on 'Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple' on January 18, 2024. These include postage stamps issued on Lord Ganesha, Lord Hanuman, Jatayu, Kevatraj and Mata Shabari along with Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple. To make this occasion historic, stamps have been printed with chandan fragrance, gold foil  along with divine water and soil of Ayodhya. The design of stamps depicts panch mahbootas. Components of the design include the Ram Mandir, Choupai 'Mangal Bhavan Amangal Hari', Sun, Sarayu River and Sculptures in and around the Temple, said Shri Yadav. These stamps are now also available for sale in the Philatelic Bureau of Varanasi and Prayagraj Head Post Office.

Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav said that even before this, the Postal Department had released a set of 11 commemorative postage stamps depicting important episodes of Ramayana on September 22, 2017. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi released it at Tulsi Manas Temple, Varanasi. These stamps include attractive scenes of Sita Swayamvar, Ram's exile, Bharat Milap, Kevat incident, Jatayu dialogue, Shabari dialogue, Hanuman-Sita dialogue in Ashok Vatika, construction of Ram Setu, Hanuman carrying Sanjivani, killing of Ravana and Lord Ram's ascension to the throne. Looking at these stamps, one feels as if the entire Ram Rajya has appeared on the postage stamps. To make the  Bhoomi Pujan and foundation stone laying program of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, Ayodhya unforgettable, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had released a customized postal stamp based on the 'Icon of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple' in Ayodhya on August 5, 2020.

Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav said that the Postal Department issues various stamps to connect people with their culture, history and heritage. In this sequence, stamps issued on 'Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple' to various episodes of Ramayana, have also been included, so that the young generation can become aware of their culture through postage stamps. These postage stamps will be affixed on letters and also go to abroad, where they will spread the story of Ramayana to the people.
