Special Cover on Blue City, Jodhpur released by Director Postal Services KK Yadav during JODHAPEX-2015

The closing ceremony of two-days Philatelic Exhibition “JODHAPEX-2015” was held on 8 December 2015 in the auditorium of Sohan Lal  Manihar Girls Senior Secondary School Siwanchi gate, Jodhpur. On this occasion, Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav, Director Postal Services, Rajasthan Western Region, Jodhpur also  released a Special cover on Blue City, Jodhpur.

On this occasion Director Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav said that The stamps are an illustrated referent of world heritage, progress and current events. In this way Philately has contributed to strengthen the education system. Information brochures issued with stamps give detailed information about the subject matter concerned. Every stamp has an important and contemporary theme that connects it to the current scenario. He said that, the knowledge of stamps for youth and children will be a good hobby and inspiration to follow. The habit of collection of stamps can be used in academic upgrading along with become a good source of income on lower costs in the future.

A special cover on Blue city, Jodhpur was also released by Director Postal Services Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav This special cover is having marvelous scene of blue coloured houses from the internal vellum of Jodhpur City and its special cancellation depicts logo of skylight of Jodhpur Mehrangadh Fort. Mr. Yadav said that Jodhpur has maintained its identity by the historical, cultural and tourism distinct, therefore, on this occasion, the postal department is proud of issuing this special cover.  The craze of the Blue City is in movies and amongst the tourists from all over the country and around the world and now this special casing through the postal department will increase its specific identity. He said that sending letter  in this Blue city Cover with own my stamp will be something different to sending letters to loved ones and will be a special gift for the residents of Jodhpur and tourists who come here.

Jodhpur is second largest city in the Indian state of Rajasthan and has long been a popular destination among international tourists. The old town is a wonderful example of vivid colours providing a photogenic backdrop to everyday life. It is also known as the blue city because the color gives an indigo aura to it with blue colored houses surrounding the Mehrangarh Fort.

Shri PR Kadela, SSPOs Jodhpur said that the Postal Department is in India's oldest department and this type of initiative brings closer the youth to Philately. Highlighting the importance of the stamp collection said that collection of rare stamps is worth a Jew’s eye. Mr. Vidhyarthi Kalla, Principal of Sohan Lal Manihar Girls Sr.  Secondary School, said that such exhibitions should be kept constant, so that more and more students are attracted to the hobby of stamp collecting.

At the closing ceremony of Jodhapex-2015 the winners of various competitions were awarded by Mr. Yadav. In Philatelic Exhibition first, second and third prize was awarded to YKL Mathur, Praveen Parihar & Jagat Kishore Parihar  in Senior Category and to Kartik Parihar, Garvit Mathur & Rupali Rakecha in Junior Category. In the letter writing competition for children Parul Vajpayee, Yashaswini and Shazia and in stamp design contest Kruti Vyas, Bhumika Solanki & Anil Pawar ranked first, second and third respectively.

On the second day of the exhibition of stamps the excitement remains to watch their photos on stamps. During the exhibition, more than 400 people made their stamps.

On this occasion Jury Members Shri Rajesh Paharia & Shri R.K. Bhutda,  Sr. Postmaster HR Rathaud, Deputy Supdt. of Posts Jay Singh, Asst. Supdt. Vinay Khatri, Uday Sheju, Tarun Sharma, Rajendra Bhati, Sudarshan Samariya and many Philatelists, children from various schools, their parents, teachers and a number of Postal Officials were also present.
