India may not be participating in the
FIFA World Cup-2014 but craze for it is not
less than any other country. Fans
want to collect everything related to FIFA World Cup-2014 as souvenirs.
Keeping in mind this attraction for FIFA World Cup-2014, Postal Department has issued a
set of four commemorative postage stamps and one miniature sheet. Mr. Krishna
Kumar Yadav, Director Postal Services, Allahabad Region said that these stamps
depicts matches in the field and mascot of 2014 FIFA World Cup, Fuleco. This
release is a tribute to the Football fans in India and across the world. It is
worthwhile to mention here that these stamps were released by Prime Minister Mr.
Narendra Modi on the evening of 12th June.
Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav, told that these
stamps are available in Allahabad Region at Philatelic Bureaus of Allahabad and
Varanasi. Stamps worth more than Rs. 30,000 have been sold to the customers on
first day in Allahabad. These customers include not only youngsters and school
children who are fans of Football but government officers working in various
fields, Judges, Doctors, Engineers, Advocates, Sport Persons and people from
Corporate World. Not only Allahabad, but people are coming from nearby districts
to purchase these stamps. Many of these people are procuring these postage
stamps for gifting to other persons also. Other than above, these stamps and
other items are being also dispatched by registered post to 797 Philatelic
Deposit Account holders of Allahabad Philatelic Bureau, added Mr. KK Yadav.
Director Mr. Yadav also told that out of
these four stamps, two are available in the denomination of rupees 25/- each,
while other two are available at Rs. 5/- each. Department of Posts has got 9
lakh each stamps printed (9 lakh x 4= 36 lakh), whereas 4 lakh miniature sheets
have been printed. Apart from these, First Day Cover and Information Brochure
have also been issued, which are available for Rs. 5/- each respectively.
