Department of Posts is making its services and environment high tech and customer friendly day by day. In the same sequence, the lift in Prayagraj Head Post Office located at Civil Lines was inaugurated by the Postmaster General of Prayagraj Region Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav on 9th March, 2024. On this occasion, Director Postal Services Shri Gaurav Srivastava, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices Shri Abhishek Srivastava, Senior Postmaster Shri Rajesh Srivastava were also present.
Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav said that Prayagraj has an important place in the field of postal services. Many postal services started from here and even today it has preserved many things as a heritage. The location of the Head Post Office makes it even more important. Many aspects of history are hidden in its lap. The architecture of the old building of the Head Post Office, built in the year 1834 during the British era, the design of the rooms and the large halls are really fascinating.
Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav said that all the services are available under one roof in the Head Post Office, hence the installation of lift here will provide convenience to all the customers and employees. This lift will be of great convenience especially for the disabled, senior citizens and women. Every day more than a thousand people come to the Head Post Office for general postal services, speed post, registry and parcel booking, savings bank, Aadhaar, passport, India Post Payments Bank, philately etc.
It is noteworthy that there are various counters of postal services on the ground floor and first floor of the Head Post Office building, while on the second and third floors, the offices of Senior Superintendent of Post Offices and Postmaster General are located respectively.

भारतीय डाक विभाग अपनी सेवाओं और परिवेश को दिनों-ब-दिन हाई टेक और कस्टमर फ्रेंडली बना रहा है। इसी क्रम में सिविल लाइंस स्थित प्रयागराज प्रधान डाकघर में लिफ्ट का लोकार्पण प्रयागराज परिक्षेत्र के पोस्टमास्टर जनरल श्री कृष्ण कुमार यादव ने 9 मार्च, 2024 को किया। इस अवसर पर निदेशक डाक सेवाएं श्री गौरव श्रीवास्तव, प्रवर डाक अधीक्षक श्री अभिषेक श्रीवास्तव, सीनियर पोस्टमास्टर श्री राजेश श्रीवास्तव भी मौजूद रहे।
पोस्टमास्टर जनरल श्री कृष्ण कुमार यादव ने कहा कि डाक सेवाओं के क्षेत्र में प्रयागराज का महत्वपूर्ण स्थान है। यहीं से तमाम डाक सेवाओं की शुरूआत हुयी और आज भी धरोहर के रूप में तमाम बातों को यह सहेजे हुये है। प्रधान डाकघर की अवस्थिति इसे और भी महत्वपूर्ण बनाती है। इसके आगोश में इतिहास के तमाम पहलू छुपे हुये हैं। अंग्रेजों के ज़माने में वर्ष 1834 में निर्मित प्रधान डाकघर की पुरानी बिल्डिंग का स्थापत्य, कमरों की डिज़ायन और बड़े-बड़े हॉल वाकई मनमोहक हैं।
पोस्टमास्टर जनरल श्री कृष्ण कुमार यादव ने कहा कि प्रधान डाकघर में एक ही छत के नीचे तमाम सेवाएं उपलब्ध हैं, ऐसे में यहाँ लिफ्ट लगने से ग्राहकों और कर्मियों सभी को सुविधा होगी। विशेषकर दिव्यांगों, वरिष्ठ नागरिकों, महिलाओं के लिए इस लिफ्ट से काफी सहूलियत होगी। प्रतिदिन प्रधान डाकघर में एक हज़ार से ज़्यादा लोग सामान्य डाक सेवाओं, स्पीड पोस्ट, रजिस्ट्री व पार्सल बुकिंग, बचत बैंक, आधार, पासपोर्ट, इंडिया पोस्ट पेमेंट्स बैंक, फ़िलेटली इत्यादि के लिए आते हैं।
ग़ौरतलब है कि प्रधान डाकघर भवन के भू तल एवं प्रथम तल पर डाक सेवाओं के विभिन्न काउंटर्स हैं, वहीं द्वितीय व तृतीय तल पर क्रमश: प्रवर डाकघर अधीक्षक और पोस्टमास्टर जनरल कार्यालय अवस्थित है।
