If you wish to get a stamp
released on a theme of your choice, it’s time for your wish to come true by a
special facility provided by Postal Department. Explaining in detail about this
service Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav, Director Postal Services, Allahabad Region
told that India Post is inviting suggestions of the general public for new
subjects/ themes to be depicted on the Commemorative Postage Stamps. The suggestions
can be given on any theme related to art, culture, national heritage, flora and
fauna, sports, wild life, nature, historical monuments, children oriented
subjects and world heritage. The Theme/ subject should be such that can be
depicted on the stamps in a visually appealing manner so as to be of inters to
Philatelic collectors.
Director Postal Services, Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav further
clarified that suggestions given regarding personalities, institutions, and
events will not be considered. This poll with the name “Suggest a Stamp” will
remain open up to 15 February, 2013 and suggestion may be sent to e-mail
address ‘stamppoll@gmail.com’.
Director Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav told that best three
suggestions, chosen at National Level will be recommended for inclusion in
Stamp issue programme of 2014 and suitable credits will be given in the
Information Boucher for suggesting the selected theme/ subject.
Mr. Yadav also told that before submitting the entry, the
catalogue of stamps issued, available on India Post’s website www.indiapost.gov.in may be perused so
as to avoid any repetition in the subjects/ themes. Postal Department is also
writing letters to different Departments, Institutions, schools and colleges
for wide publicity of the scheme.
