Children make painting on ‘A day with my Grand Parents’ for Postal Stamp design

Everyone love company of Grand Parents. Everybody has his world of imaginations to make the love of Grand parents more memorable and beautiful, and when they get a chance to paint these imaginations, a number of colors come out on canvass. Many such colors scattered in the “Design a stamp” competition organized by Department of Posts on  16rd of November, 2013 on the topic ‘A day with my Grand Parents’.

On this occasion Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav, Director Postal Services, Allahabad Region said that Young generation is very creative and energetic and we have to make effort to flow it into positive way. This Design a stamp competition is the fantastic way to involve the participation of Children. It’s not only the competition but also a mean of putting the generations together.  Department of Post has been organizing Stamp design competition since 1998 and the participation of children and students to design the postage stamp is ensured by this activity. 

Mr. Yadav told that total 312 children participated in Allahabad Region, out of which 23 in Allahabad, 60 in Pratapgarh, 68 in Jaunpur, 49 in Mirjapur and 112 in Varanasi. In Allahabad children of 21 schools participated in the competition, which include participants from Saint Anthony Girls Inter College, Boys High School, Girls High School, Saint Joseph School, Meri Lucas School, GGIC, MMD Inter College, Swami Vivekanand Inter College, Jwala Devi Saraswati Vidyamandir, VashisthVatsalya Public School, Maharshi Patanjali Vidya Mandir, Central School New cantt , etc. All the participants were divided in three categories- Students of up to class 4th, Students from class 5th to 8th and students from class 9th to 12th.

Director Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav told that all these entries will be evaluated at Regional level and best entry from all three categories will be send Circle office, Lucknow for further submission to Directorate for inclusion in National level competition. First, second and third winners from all three categories  will be awarded cash prizes of Rs. 10000, 6000 and 4000 respectively at National level. On the basis of winning entries at national level Postage Stamps, First Day Covers and Miniature sheets will be published next year on the occasion of Children’s Day. On this occasion children, teachers and guardians showed their intrest in opening Philatelic Deposit Account under which they will receive Philatelic Postage  Stamps each month at their home.
