These days a number of services are being offered through mobile phones. Even the concept of e-governance has been simplified with the help of mobile phones. For effective implementation of e-governance it is important that mobile phones are made available to everyone at economic rates. Keeping this in view sale of mobile phones have been started from the Post Offices.
Briefing about this Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav, Director Postal Services, Allahabad Region said that under a contract with M/s Pantel Technology Private Ltd., Postal Department has started sale of ‘Penta Bharat Phones’ from Post Offices. These mobile phones are available for rupees 1199 (5 % VAT extra) with a number of features. Other than Bluetooth, Film and file sharing this phone also has FM. This mobile phone also have the features of free memory card, JAVA, Multimedia and games, digital camera, dual sim, dual standby, SMS alerts and torch. Other than this phone also have the feature to track mobile through SMS, 1200 minutes free talk time and facility to chat with friends through Whatsapp.
Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav, Director Postal Services, said that Penta Bharat phones are being sold through 19 Post Offices in Allahabad Region. Penta Bharat Phones are available for sale in white and black colors in all Head Post Offices and identified Post Offices. It includes, Allahabad Head Post Office and Allahabad Kty. Head Post Office, Sirathu and Manjhanpur in Allahabad; Pratapgarh Head Post Office and Kunda in Pratapgarh; Mirzapur Head Post Office, Robertsganj, Shaktinagar, and Obra in Mirzapur; Ghazipur Head Post Office in Ghazipur; Jaunpur head Post Office and Manriyanhu in Jaunpur; Visheswarganj and Cantt. Head Post Office, Hindu Vishwa Vidyalaya, Chandauli, Gyanpur Bhadohi in Varanasi.
