Now book your railway ticket from any Post Office, Service will be available in 1699 Post Offices of Varanasi Postal Region

The services of Post Offices are being expanded for the convenience of the public. In this sequence, now booking of railway tickets can also be done from Post Offices. For this, people will not need to go to the railway station or reservation center, but will be able to book train tickets from their nearest Post Office. This service will be available in Departmental Post Offices as well as Branch Post Offices located in villages. In the Dak Mela organized in Sewapuri Model Block of Varanasi on 23rd November, 2021, the Postmaster General of Varanasi Region, Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav said that the Department of Posts will provide this service through Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). For this, the process of issuing user ID and password to the personnel of Post Offices is under going after their training. This facility will be made available in all 1699 Post Offices of Varanasi Postal Region. With the facility of booking railway tickets in Post Offices, the pressure of crowding at the Railway station counters will also be reduced. There will be no need to stand in queue for hours. During this, Sukanya Samridhi accounts of 3000 girls were opened by the Varanasi (West) Postal Division by organizing a special campaign. The Postmaster General wished for a happy future by handing over passbooks to the girls along with Senior Superintendent of Post Offices Mr. Rajan Rao and Superintendent of Posts Offices Mr. Sanjay Kumar Verma.

Postmaster General Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav said that in the month of November and December, pensioners have to make rounds of the Treasury/concerned banks or Common service centers to produce the life certificate in the treasury or the concerned department. To get rid of this, Department of Post is providing the facility of Digital Life Certificate at door step through Postman via India Post Payments Bank. Now the postman will generate the life certificate of pensioners through bio-metric device at door step, for which a fee of ₹ 70 have to be paid.

Postmaster General Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav said that Sewapuri in Varanasi is being developed as a model block by NITI Aayog. Under this, the Department of Posts is also playing important role in the field of financial literacy and inclusion. For this, 43 postman have been trained as Digital Mitra and so far more than 14,000 people have been financially literate in Sewapuri block. Under this scheme, 9 Five Star Villages, 33 Sampoorna Sukanya Samridhi Grams, 15 IPPB Sampoorna Saksham Grams and 8 Sampoorna Bima Grams have been made under Sevapuri Block. People have been motivated towards financial inclusion by organizing 133 camps for awareness about financial services by the Department of Posts. Through India Post Payments Bank, merchants and especially women shopkeepers are being encouraged to make digital payments by using merchant accounts.

Postmaster General Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav said that, even today, Post Office savings schemes are most popular and people have been making safe investments from generation to generation. Facilities of Savings Bank, Insurance, Aadhaar, Passport, Common Service Center, India Post Payments Bank, Vehicle Insurance, Digital Life Certificate, Sale of Gangajal etc. are being provided under one roof in Post Offices.

Superintendent of Post Offices, Varanasi (West) Division, Sanjay Kumar Verma said that the Department of Posts is organizing camps and melas at various levels to promote Postal services and people gets connected with it easily.

Chauhan, Inspector Shashikant Kannojia, Inderjit Pal, India Post Payments Bank Manager Sublesh Singh, Postmaster Sewapuri Anoop Pandey, Pradhan of Ghosila Village Pooja Singh, Manager, Khadi & Village Industries Shyam Prasad Vishwakarma along with many Postal employees, public representatives, school children participated.
