Postmaster General Krishna Kumar Yadav releases special cover on the Ram Navami

In a program organized under the aegis of Postal Department and Prayag Philatelic Society, Postmaster General of Varanasi & Prayagraj Region Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav released a special cover with cancellation on “Ram Navami” on the eve of Ram Navami in Prayagraj Head Post Office. This special cover was cancelled with the picture of a bow by pasting a postage stamp issued on ‘Ramayana’ on it. Director Postal Services Shri Gaurav Srivastava, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices Shri Abhishek Srivastava, President of Prayag Philatelic Society Shri Pramod Kumar Bansal and Secretary Shri Rahul Ganguly were also present.

On the occasion Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav said that Lord Shri Ram expresses our spiritual and cultural values. The prevalence of Ram Katha in human history is rarely found anywhere else. Lord Shri Ram also has a deep connection with Prayagraj. After exile, when Shri Ram left Ayodhya with Sita and Lakshman, Nishadraj in Prayagraj helped them cross the Ganga in his boat. Shri Ram is deeply prevalent in the minds of the people of the country. The character of Shri Ram influences the civilizations and cultures of not only India but many countries also. Shri Ram became such a standard of human conduct, life values and self-confidence that he was accepted as Maryada Purushottam. He is not carrying only religious but also social, literary and cultural importance. Lord Ram has been vibrating the consciousness of people for centuries.

Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav said that the Postal Department issues various stamps and special covers to connect people with their culture and heritage. The glory of Lord Shri Ram is also being spread in the country and the world through Postal Stamps. Along with India, more than 20 countries of the world have issued  Stamps from time to time on the characters and stories related to Ramayana. That means Ram Raj is visible even on Postal Stamps. In this sequence, all the Stamps related to various episodes from ‘Ramayana’ to ‘Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple’ have also been included, so that the young generation can become aware of their culture through philately. These stamps will move around the world and spread the story of Ramayana there.

 Director Postal Services Shri Gaurav Srivastava said that the character of Lord Shri Ram is omnipresent and inclusive. Following the path of truth, kindness, compassion, religion and dignity, he set new standards. Senior Superintendent of Post Offices Shri Abhishek Srivastava told that the special cover issued on Ram Navami will be available for sale with price of Rs. 25  in the Philatelic Bureau, Prayagraj Head Post Office.

On this occasion, Senior Postmaster Shri Rajesh Srivastava, Assistant Director Masoom Raza Rushdi, Tanveer Ahmed, Deputy Superintendent of Post Offices Smt. Pramila Yadav and many other officers, employees and philatelists were present.
