Blogging in Hindi for 10 years, city folk win laurels

ALLAHABAD: At the completion of 10 years since its inception, Hindi blogging has come a long way. Even in a city like Allahabad there are individuals who are not just expressing their views and more on blog space, but even bringing home awards for their skills. One such accolade has been brought to the city by Krishna Kumar Yadav and his wife Akanksha Yadav, who won the 'Best Blogging Couple of the Decade' award for their blogs in Hindi since 2003 when Unicode made it possible to write blogs in our national language. Credit of pioneering Hindi blogs goes to a person named Alok, who first posted his blog titled 'Nau Do Gyarah'. He is the one who used the word 'Chittha' for a blog for the first time. Today it has evolved as a strong platform for dialogue, information exchange, self expression and communication. Allahabad has always enjoyed the pride of being a seat of literature, education, culture and art and the city's bloggers have lived up to that reputation.

Krishna Kumar Yadav, who was awarded with 'Awadh Samman' for 'Excellence in New Media and Blogging' in November 2013 by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.

Posted as director Postal Services of Allahabad region, Yadav told TOI that he runs two blogs named 'Shabd Srijan ki Ore' and 'Daakiya Daak Laaya'. 'Shabd Srijan ki Ore' (http://kkyadav.blogspot.com) , started on June 13, 2008 is alive with contemporary issues, beautiful and soul-stirring poems, informational and well researched articles, whereas his other blog 'Daakiya Daak Laaya' (http://dakbabu.blogspot.com) contains rich history of Postal Services, information about great personas related with service and information about amazing world of postage stamps. His wife Akanksha Yadav is his partner in blogging. Through her blog 'Shabd Shikhar' (http://shabdshikhar.blogspot.com), she writes about woman and child issues, and social concerns. She is an eminent blogger and women empowerment is the basic theme of her writing.

The couple began blogging in 2003 and within five years through their 10 blogs, motivated several others to start blogs of their own. The couple was awarded 'The Best Couple Blogger of the Decade' award at an International Hindi Blogging Conference organised in Lucknow on August 27, 2012. Blogs of this couple have readers not only in India but abroad as well. While Krishna Kumar Yadav's blogs 'Daakiya Daak Laya' has been viewed in 104 countries and 'Shabd Srijan Ki Ore' in 78 countries, Akanksha Yadav's blog 'Shabd Shikhar' has been viewed in 81 countries.

Akanksha Yadav says, "Blogging emerged as a 'new media' and has opened a new prospect for women's aspirations. In her blog, she presents data to illustrate that today there are more than 50,000 blogs out of which about one-fourth are operated by women. These women are not only discussing socio-political and economic issues but also creating literature in their own style.

The Youngest blogger in Hindi, a girl named Akshitaa is also from Allahabad. She is the first blogger to have received State Award for blogging and has received National Children's Award from Government of India in 2011. Her blog 'Pakhi Ki Duniya' (http://pakhi-akshita.blogspot.com) is amazing and is viewed/read in about 105 countries and contains more than 320 posts.
