A programme was organized by Postal Department to celebrate the conclusion of week long ‘National Postal Week’ on 15 October, 2014. The last day of National Postal Week was celebrated as Postal Life Insurance Day. Addressing the programme organized at Allahabad Head Post Office, Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav, Director Postal Services, Allahabad Region said that National Postal Week is the most important programme of the Postal Department and there’s a need to continue activities organized during this week in future. He said that while the Postal Department has modernized its services, there’s a need to increase it‘s revenue.
Director Postal Services, Allahabad Region, Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav, said that along with distribution of letters Postal Department has been working for a long time in the fields of Life Insurance and Saving Bank. Started on 1 February, 1884, Postal Life Insurance is India’s oldest insurance service. Postal Department has also introduced Rural Postal Life Insurance in 1995, for people in rural areas. Postal Life Insurance offers six schemes- ‘Suraksha’, ‘Santosh’, ‘Suwidha’, ‘Yugal Suraksha’, ‘Sumangal’, and Children Policy. Mr. Yadav said that during the current financial year, Allahabad Region has procured a insurance business of more than 75 crore, which includes 51 crore under Postal Life Insurance and 24 crore under Rural Postal Life Insurance. Mr. Yadav told that to ensure facility of insurance to maximum number of people, each Postal Division has identified villages as ‘Rural Postal Life Insurance Village’, while in cities important government organizations are being brought under the ‘Postal Life Insurance Organization’.
Mr. Rahmatullah, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices emphasized on the activities undertaken during the National Postal Week and urged all officers and employees to connect more people with Postal Services.
On the occasion of closing of National Postal Week, Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav, Director Postal Services, Allahabad Region felicitated best performing employees and officers with Certificate of appreciation and trophies. Mr. Vinay Yadav, Asstt. Supdt. of Post Offices (South); P. C. Tiwari, Asstt. Supdt. of Post Offices (Central) and Dileep Sing Yadav, Sub divisional Inspector (Handia), were respectively awarded with first, second and third prizes for outstanding business in Postal Life Insurance. Similarly, Mrs. Paro Srivastava, Branch Post Master, Seepadih; Ram Chandra Shukla, Postman, Meja and Shafkat Ullah, Branch Post Master, Biharia were respectively awarded with first, second and third prizes for outstanding business in Rural Postal Life Insurance. Mr. Vinod Kumar Srivastava, Post Master, Allahabad Kutchery Head Post Office; Mr. Manoj Kumar Yadav, Sub Post Master, Soraon and Pyare lal Maurya, Branch Post Master, Mashakpur were awarded for opening maximum number of Saving Bank Accounts
Mr. Gulab Chandra Yadav, Deputy Supdt. of Post Offices, Allahabad, welcomed the guests and Mr. O. B. Singh, Senior Postmaster gave vote of thanks. Proceeding of the programme were conducted by Mr. Brijesh Kumar Sharma, Inspector of Post Offices. At the end of the programme, Senior Supdt. of Post Offices Allahabad presented memento to Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav, Director Postal Services.
