Postman Mobile Application (PMA) launched by the Postal Department in Rajasthan

The Postal Department is making himself hi-tech day-to-day. Now, if the postman takes your sign/ thumb impression in a smart phone instead of manually in the delivery slip, please do not surprise in this regard. ‘Postman Mobile App’ was launched on 15th may, 2017 in selected Post Offices of Rajasthan.

Launching the ‘Postman Mobile App’ in Jodhpur, Krishna Kumar Yadav, Director Postal Services, Rajasthan Western Region, Jodhpur said that in the chain of modern technology, the postal department has launched “Postman Mobile App” for providing prompt and more transparent services to the customers. By launching of this App, the postman will take signature of the customer in the smart phone instead of manual delivery slip for delivery of Speed Post, Registered Post, Money Order and COD Parcel etc. which will move the Postal department towards Digital India by doing paperless and smart working.

Briefing about the service Director Postal Services, Krishna Kumar Yadav told that the time will be saved by using of Postman mobile app and also the monitoring of actual delivery of the articles will be done more effectively. For this purpose, Android based smart phones have been provided to the Postmen. This will lead to speed and transparency in the delivery of accountable postal articles and the relevant data will be updated online at once, said Mr. Yadav.

At present, the entries of return and delivery of the postal articles are being entered in the offline software and the data are being updated in the central server when the Postman gives returns in the late hours. As this service is based on GPS system, it would also be known about the actual place where the article has been delivered by the Postman concerned, said Mr. Yadav.

Krishna Kumar Yadav, Director Postal Services told that in the first phase of the scheme, 1084 smart phones have been provided to the Postman in Rajasthan Circle including 309 Postmen of 26 post offices in the Western Region, Jodhpur.  Among this scheme, 17 Post Offices of Jodhpur Division are covered. These are Jodhpur Head Post Office, Shastri Naga, Nandanvan, Kachery, Residency Road, Krishi Upaj Mandi Bhagat Kothi, Krishi Upaj Mandi Mandore Road, BSF Training Center, Banar, Bhopalgarh, Bilara, Mathania, Osian, Phalodi and Pipar.
