To help the sisters who are living far away from their brothers and sending the Rakhi through Post on Rakshabandhan is the only option, Department of Posts has come up with a novel idea - a waterproof designer Rakhi envelope. This information was shared by Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav, Director Postal Services, Lucknow HQ Region.
Director Postal Services Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav said that these designer rakhi envelopes are strong, safe and waterproof to protect the sacred thread inside the envelope from the rain and other damages. These envelopes are available in multicolour with a rakhi image and "Happy Rakhi" message embossed on it. The envelopes are perfect for Rakhi gifting. Glue is not required as special sticker has been provided to affix the envelope, said Mr. Yadav.
Cost for Rakhi envelope of 11 cm X 22 cm is only ₹ 10, which is in addition to the postage fee. Director Mr. Yadav said that being colourful and designer; it will be convenient in sorting these envelopes from the other mails and also to deliver them promptly before the Rakhi festival.
Chief Postmaster, Lucknow GPO, Mr. RN Yadav said that these Rakhi envelopes are being supplied from Lucknow GPO for sale at all Head Post offices of Uttar Pradesh.
Niharika Gupta, a buyer of Rakhi envelopes at Lucknow GPO, said that she will now be able to send Rakhis through these designer rakhi envelopes to her brothers who are working in the distant cities even in this Covid-19 pandemic satisfactorily.
