Under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav 2.0, Department of Post is issuing 75 special covers on tribal products across the country. Postmaster General of Varanasi Region Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav releases special cover and cancellation on tribal product 'Kattha' (Catechu) in a program organized at Head Post Office, Varanasi. This special cover was defaced by putting a postage stamp issued on the "International Shri Anna Year". Padma shri Mr. Chandrashekhar and Senior Superintendent of Post Offices Rajan Rao also graced the function.
Releasing the special cover, Postmaster General Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav said that the tribals in different areas, are not only preserving the heritage through their handicrafts and organic and natural products, but also playing a leading role in the growth of the agricultural economy. Kattha (Catechu) is the product of Kharwar tribe. This tribe was the first to start collecting its extracts as their business. Red Kattha is used in paan (betel) whereas white kattha is used in medicinal form. Because of its psychosomatic and therapeutic properties, kattha has been used in India since ancient times, said Mr. Yadav.
Postmaster General Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav said that stamps and special covers connect the history with the present. Special covers issued on ODOP, GI and tribal products are increasing their publicity by branding them in the country and the world wide. It also promotes the concept of 'Vocal for Local' and 'Atm Nirbhar Bharat' under inclusive development. By adopting Philately as a hobby, the youth will also be able to enhance their knowledge by getting all the information through stamps and special covers.
Padma Shri Mr. Chandrashekhar Singh, a well known Progressive farmer as a special guest, said that the Department of Posts, through its vast and reliable network, is reaching out to every section of the society and connecting them with government welfare schemes. Issuing stamps and special covers on products, heritage, personalities and various aspects related to agriculture to tribal society, giving them a new identity.
On this occasion, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Varanasi East Division Rajan, Superintendent of Post Offices, Varanasi West Division Vinay Kumar, Senior Postmaster SP Rai, Assistant Superintendent of Post Offices Ajay Kumar, Dilip Singh Yadav, IPPB Manager Sublesh Singh, Inspector of Post Offices Sarvesh Singh, Shrikant Pal, Shriprakash Gupta, Deepmani, Jagdish Sadeja, Sushant Singh along with Postal Officials and philatelists etc. were present.
डाक विभाग ने जनजातीय उत्पाद 'कत्था' पर जारी किया विशेष आवरण
आजादी का अमृत महोत्सव 2.0 के तत्वावधान में भारतीय डाक विभाग द्वारा पूरे देश में जनजातीय उत्पादों पर 75 विशेष आवरण जारी किये जा रहे हैं। इसी क्रम में वाराणसी परिक्षेत्र के पोस्टमास्टर जनरल श्री कृष्ण कुमार यादव ने वाराणसी के प्रगतिशील किसान पद्मश्री श्री चंद्रशेखर सिंह और प्रवर डाक अधीक्षक राजन राव संग जनजातीय उत्पाद 'कत्था' पर विशेष आवरण व विरूपण का विमोचन प्रधान डाकघर, वाराणसी में आयोजित एक कार्यक्रम में किया। इस विशेष आवरण पर अंतर्राष्ट्रीय श्री अन्न वर्ष पर जारी डाक टिकट लगाकर इसका विरूपण किया गया।
पोस्टमास्टर जनरल श्री कृष्ण कुमार यादव ने विशेष आवरण जारी करते हुए कहा कि विभिन्न जनजातीय क्षेत्रों के आदिवासी अपने हस्तशिल्प और जैविक व प्राकृतिक उत्पादों के माध्यम से न सिर्फ विरासतों को सहेज रहे हैं बल्कि कृषि अर्थव्यवस्था की अभिवृद्धि में भी अग्रणी भूमिका निभा रहे हैं। कत्था खरवार जनजाति का उत्पाद है। इस जनजाति ने सबसे पहले इसके अर्क को अपने व्यवसाय के रूप में एकत्र करना शुरू किया था। लाल कत्थे का इस्तेमाल पान में तो सफ़ेद कत्थे का इस्तेमाल औषधीय रूप में किया जाता है। मनोदैहिक और चिकित्सीय गुणों के कारण प्राचीनकाल से ही भारत में कत्थे का प्रयोग किया जाता है।
पोस्टमास्टर जनरल श्री कृष्ण कुमार यादव ने कहा कि डाक टिकट और विशेष आवरण अतीत को वर्तमान से जोड़ते हैं। एक जिला-एक उत्पाद, जीआई उत्पादों से लेकर जनजातीय उत्पादों तक पर जारी विशेष आवरण देश-दुनिया में इनकी ब्रांडिंग कर प्रचार-प्रसार बढ़ाते हैं और समावेशी विकास के तहत 'वोकल फॉर लोकल' एवं 'आत्मनिर्भर भारत' की संकल्पना को मूर्त रूप देते हैं। फिलेटली को हॉबी के रूप में अपनाकर युवा वर्ग भी डाक टिकटों और विशेष आवरणों के माध्यम से तमाम जानकारियां प्राप्त कर ज्ञान में रचनात्मक अभिवृद्धि कर सकेंगे।
विशिष्ट अतिथि के रूप में प्रगतिशील किसान पद्मश्री श्री चंद्रशेखर सिंह ने कहा कि डाक विभाग अपने विशाल और विश्वसनीय नेटवर्क के माध्यम से समाज के हर वर्ग तक पहुँचकर उन्हें सरकारी योजनाओं से जोड़ रहा है। कृषि से लेकर जनजातीय समाज से जुड़े उत्पादों, विरासतों, विभूतियों और विभिन्न पहलुओं पर डाक टिकट और विशेष आवरण जारी कर उन्हें नई पहचान दे रहा है।
प्रवर डाक अधीक्षक राजन राव ने बताया कि उक्त विशेष आवरण मय विरूपण 25 रुपए में फिलेटलिक ब्यूरो, वाराणसी प्रधान डाकघर में उपलब्ध होगा।
इस अवसर पर प्रवर डाक अधीक्षक राजन, डाक अधीक्षक विनय कुमार, सीनियर पोस्टमास्टर एसपी राय, सहायक अधीक्षक अजय कुमार, दिलीप सिंह यादव, आइपीपीबी मैनेजर सुबलेश सिंह, डाक निरीक्षक सर्वेश सिंह, श्रीकांत पाल, दिलीप पांडेय, श्रीप्रकाश गुप्ता, दीपमणि, जगदीश सडेजा, सुशांत सिंह सहित तमाम अधिकारी, कर्मचारी, फ़िलेटलिस्ट इत्यादि उपस्थित रहे।
