Jodhpur, Bikaner to have India Post Payment Bank soon

Following the recent approval of setting up of India Post payment banks by the government of India, eight branches will be opened in Rajasthan in the first phase including Jodhpur and Bikaner in the western region of the postal department.

While sharing the information in a workshop held recently in order to apprise the postal department officials about the new changes taking place in the postal practices and services, director postal services (Rajasthan western region) Krishna Kumar Yadav said that these payment banks will be technically equipped banking platform which will provide a wide range of services such as Direct Benefit Transfers (DBT) and all kind of payments.

Yadav said that there is a pressing need to ensure reach of technological advancements to rural areas also and postal department has already been striving hard to bring the technology to the rural areas to ensure maximum reach of the department.

“Under rural ICT project, branch post offices located in rural areas will now be made high-tech and netbooks and hand held devices will now be given to these offices. Not only this, branch post offices will be given mobile thermal printer, smartcard reader, finger print scanner, digital camera for signature/ document scanning and making transactions,”said Yadav.
