In Varanasi, the Constituency of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Department of Posts has taken a new initiative during Navratri festival. Under the 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' campaign launched by Prime Minister Shri Modi, 'Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana' has proved the significance of Navratri festival by opening the accounts of all the girlchild and ensuring their future.
On the initiative of the Postmaster General of Varanasi Region, Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav, 188 villages of Varanasi Postal Region have been declared as 'Sampurna Sukanya Samriddhi Gram' during the Navratra by opening Sukanya Samriddhi Accounts of all eligible girls of these villages.
In this sequence, Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav gifted passbook and honored the girls at a function organized at Tapovan Branch Post Office, Varanasi. Senior Superintendent of Post offices Sumit Kumar Gaat, Superintendent of Post offices Ram Milan, Mahant Deen Bandhu Das Ji Maharaj, Ward Member Vandana Singh, Assistant Director Shambhu Rai also wished for the happy future of these girlchild.
In his address, Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav said that women power is important in Indian culture. ‘Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana’ is not only a medium of investment, but it is also linked with bright and prosperous future of the girls. Mr. Yadav said that more than 1 lakh 72 thousand Sukanya Samriddhi accounts of eligible girls have been opened in Varanasi Region. Financial as well as social concerns of this scheme are also important. The amount deposited in it will be solely for daughters, which will be useful in their education, career, and marriage. This scheme will also promote women empowerment in future by empowering girls.
Senior Superintendent Post Offices of Varanasi East Division, Mr. Sumit Kumar Gatt said that Sukanya Samriddhi Account of girls upto 10 years can be opened in any Post office with minimum ₹ 250 . Minimum ₹ 1,000 and maximum ₹ 1,50,000 can be deposited in a financial year in this account. S
Superintendent Post Offices of Varanasi West Division, Mr. Ram Milan told that 50% of the amount deposited on girl being 18 years and the entire amount can be withdrawn on completion of 21 years. Assistant Director Mr. Shambhu Rai said that the interest rate in Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana is 7.6% and there is also a provision for income tax rebate on the deposits.
Tapovan ward member Ms. Vandana Singh said that during the Navratri festival this unique initiative of the Department of Posts in the interest of daughters is admirable This will make the future of girls bright and secure.
Mahant of Tapovan Ashram Shri Deen Bandhu Das Ji Maharaj said that there is a tradition of girl worship in Navratri and during this auspicious festival, the Department of Posts has made these Sukanyas more prosperous by opening their Accounts.
