India Post Office celebrates Neeraj Chopra's Tokyo heroics by installing 'Golden' letter box in his hometown in Haryana

The world's largest postal network, India Post, has come up with a special gesture to honor India's 'Golden Boy' Neeraj Chopra in his hometown for spearheading the nation's historic campaign in the 2020 edition of the Tokyo Olympics. Neeraj entered his name in the history books by ending India's 100-year wait for a medal in athletics at the grandest stages of them all - the Olympics.

Neeraj managed to produce a throw of 87.58 to clinch the historic gold medal in the final of the men's javelin event at the Tokyo Games 2020. Celebrating Neeraj's path-breaking gold medal win in his hometown, the Indian Post has installed a golden letterbox in Haryana. With an increased brand value, superstar Neeraj has signed several endorsement deals following a memorable campaign in the Summer Games 2020.

Painting the letterbox gold, the India Post has also opted to give Neeraj a special mention. “In honor of Javelin Throw Gold Medal Winner Tokyo Olympics 2020 Shri Neeraj Chopra," the Indian Post has engraved the special message on the customized letterbox. A tweet about the Indian Post's incredible gesture for Neeraj has garnered the attention of the netizens on social media.

On the work front, Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Neeraj had kickstarted his 90-day off-season training at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Centre in California last month. The poster boy of javelin in India is gearing up for the 2022 World Athletics Championships, Commonwealth Games and Asian Games at the prestigious training center.

Neeraj is India's second-ever individual Olympic gold medalist after celebrated shooter Abhinav Bindra. Earlier, Neeraj was conferred with the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna award. Neeraj had also emerged as the most-searched personality by Indians in 2021 on Google. The Athletics Federation of India has extended the contract of Neeraj's coach Klaus Bartonietz till the Paris Olympics in 2024.
