Mahatma Gandhi's name is not only a name, but it's an ideology. Gandhiji gave the knowledge of Satyagraha, truth and non-violence, cleanliness, dialogue and self-discipline, today the whole world is convinced and doing research on them. The above thoughts were expressed by Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav, Director Postal Services, Lucknow (HQ) Region while inaugurating the Philatelic Exhibition & Seminar on the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in Lucknow GPO. On this occasion Mr. Yadav also released a Special Cover with cancellation on Celebration of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi with 'Swachhatata hi sewa' theme.
In his address, Director, Postal Services, Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav said that this is the relevance of Gandhiji's ideas that today the highest number of postage stamps in the world have been issued on Mahatma Gandhi as personality. The auction of letters written by Gandhiji is getting auctioned in millions of rupees. Through the postage stamps Gandhiji's life and his ideas can be transformed among young generation. Mr. Yadav said that today's new generation wants to see Gandhiji in a new way. He is presenting them not as a saint but as a practical idealist. Gandhi was the only popular person in the world who made innovative experiments about himself in public and his views on ethics, economic issues and his ethical thinking on public issues in today's public are relevant.
Chief Postmaster Yogendra Maurya said that In Philatelic Exhibition, eminent philatelists of Uttar Pradesh displayed the Gandhi related Stamps in 60 frames. More than 2,500 stamps released on Mahatma Gandhi by 125 countries were displayed in Exhibition.
On this occasion Quiz competition, Essay writing & letter writing competition was also organised for Students, where students of various schools actively participated. Director Postal Services Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav distributed the prizes to Philatelists and winners of various competitions.
Function was also graced by RN Yadav, Assistant Director, CP Singh, Deputy Chief Postmaster, BS Bhargava, President Lucknow Philatelic Society, Navin Singh, Secretary, Lucknow Philatelic Society.
