Postal Life Insurance limit enhanced from 20 to 50 lakh Rs.

On the occasion of Good Governance day on 25 December, 2014 Department of Posts showcased some of the web based services which would be beneficial to the citizens of India. It participated in the exhibition organized by the Ministry of Communications & Information technology. The “India Post” pavilion showcased following initiatives:

(i) The usage of hand held device which would be used by village Postmaster. All types of transactions related to the services of Post will be offered through the wireless hand held device in rural post offices under the ongoing IT project.

(ii) My Stamp counter was set up where any individual who desires, can get customized stamp made which could also be used as postage.

(iii) The monitoring of mail transmission under MNOP (Mail Network Optimisation Project) and of Project Arrow Offices through web based tools was displayed.

(iv) The functioning of e-Post Office- a virtual Post Office where an individual can do postal transaction was also on display.

(v) A pilot connecting weavers of Varanasi with e-commerce was started at Varanasi and its portal was displayed in the exhibition in Delhi. Under the Pilot, Department of Posts and M/s Snapdeal, under the existing agreement of cooperation, will do hand holding of domestic manufacturers by helping them through post office in putting their products on the e-commerce platform. An ecommerce desk is set up in Varanasi Head Post Office where registration of weavers etc and uploading of their products would be facilitated. Management of orders received, payment processing, returns management would be done by Snapdeal. Packaging, if required, booking of articles and final delivery to online buyer would be undertaken by Department of Posts.

To mark the occasion the Minster of Communications &Information Technology Shri Ravi Shanker Prasad launched an e-Book and a pocket book on products and services of Department of Posts. He also announced the enhancement of maximum sum assured limit in Postal Life Insurance from 20 to 50 lakh rupees. Details are:

e-Book :

As part of the agenda to promote good governance through e-initiatives in the Department of Posts, an e-Book is being launched. This e-Book can be accessed directly on the India Post official website or by scanning a Quick Response (QR) Code Printed on a card. Details of the new initiatives of the Department of Posts, along with existing services are available on the e-Book.

e-Pocket Book :
In order to provide an easy to carry reference book containing the details of all products and services of the Department of Posts in hard form, a Pocket Book is also being launched. This would be available in all post offices and shall promote Good Governance by making details of services and their rates available to the common man, in a simple, reader friendly and pocket sized format.

Postal Life Insurance:
The present maximum sum assured limit in Postal Life Insurance is Rs. 20 lakh per individual. In order to give benefit of greater insurance to the customers, upper insurance limit has been enhanced from Rs. 20 lakh to Rs. 50 lakh.

पोस्टमास्टरों को फील्ड में ग्राहकों के प्रति ज्यादा संवेदनशील होने की जरुरत - डाक निदेशक कृष्ण कुमार यादव

इलाहाबाद मंडल के प्रोजेक्ट ऐरो डाकघरों के पोस्टमास्टरों  को डाक विभाग में नित हो रहे परिवर्तनों से रूबरू कराने के लिए एक दिवसीय कार्यशाला का आयोजन 8 सितम्बर को सिविल लाइंस स्थित इलाहाबाद जीपीओ में किया गया। कार्यशाला का उद्घाटन इलाहाबाद परिक्षेत्र के निदेशक डाक सेवायें श्री कृष्ण कुमार यादव ने किया। इस अवसर पर कुल 73 पोस्टमास्टर और सहायक डाक अधीक्षकों/डाक निरीक्षकों ने कार्यशाला में भाग लिया। इस अवसर पर विभिन्न डाक सेवाओं के बारे में पावर प्वाइंट द्वारा प्रस्तुति देकर पोस्टमास्टरों  को अद्यतन व प्रोत्साहित किया गया।

    कार्यशाला का उद्घाटन करते हुए मुख्य अतिथि इलाहाबाद परिक्षेत्र के निदेशक डाक सेवायें श्री कृष्ण कुमार यादव ने कहा कि प्रोजेक्ट ऐरो डाक विभाग की एक महत्वाकांक्षी परियोजना है, जिसका लक्ष्य डाकघरों का चेहरा पूर्णरूप से बदलना है। प्रोजेक्ट एरो के माध्यम से डाक विभाग अपनी मूल सेवा डाक वितरण पर विशेष रूप से जोर दे रहा है। डाक वितरण के तहत प्राप्ति के दिन ही सभी प्रकार की डाक चाहे वह साधारण, पंजीकृत, स्पीड पोस्ट या मनीआर्डर हो का उसी दिन शतप्रतिशत वितरण व डिस्पैच, लेटर बाक्सों की समुचित निकासी और डाक को उसी दिन की डाक में शामिल करना, डाक बीटों के पुनर्निर्धारण द्वारा वितरण को और प्रभावी बनाना एवं डाक वितरण की प्रतिदिन मानीटरिंग द्वारा इसे और भी प्रभावी बनाया जा रहा है। इसी प्रकार बचत बैंक सेवाओं  को पूर्णतया कम्प्यूटराइज्ड कर उनकी शतप्रतिशत डाटा फीडिंग और सिगनेचर स्कैनिंग भी कराई जा रही है, ताकि मैनुअली ढंग से कार्य संपादित करने पर होने वाली देरी से बचा जा सके। डाक निदेशक श्री कृष्ण कुमार यादव ने कहा कि शीघ्र ही डाकघरों को सीबीएस से जोड़ा जा रहा है। जिससे सिर्फ शहरों ही नहीं बल्कि ग्रामीण स्तर तक बैंकिग क्षेत्रों में क्रांतिकारी कदम का सूत्रपात होगा और डाकघरों के खाताधारक नेटबैंकिग, मोबाइल बैंकिंग एवं एटीएम सुविधाओं का लाभ उठा सकेंगे ।

निदेशक डाक सेवायें श्री कृष्ण कुमार यादव ने पोस्टमास्टरों   से रूबरू होते हुए कहा कि फील्ड में उनकी कार्य गतिविधियाँ ही विभाग के प्रति अवधारणा (इमेज) बनाती हैं, ऐसे में उन्हें ग्राहकों के प्रति ज्यादा संवेदनशील होने की जरुरत है। आज के प्रतियोगी दौर में यह सोचना कि  मात्र काउंटर पर सेवाएँ देकर जनता को आकर्षित किया जा सकता है, उचित नहीं है। ज्यादा राजस्व के लिए हमें खुद लोगों के पास जाना होगा, नियमित संवाद स्थापित करते हुए उन्हें सेवाओं और गुणवत्ता के बारे में जागरूक करना होगा, तभी लक्ष्यों की प्राप्ति हो सकेगी।

श्री यादव ने विशेष अभियान चलकर हर घर में एक बचत/आवर्ती  खाता खोलने पर जोर दिया। उन्होंने सरकारी-अर्धसरकारी विभागों में डाक  मेले लगाकर ”डाक जीवन बीमा” और ”ग्रामीण डाक जीवन बीमा” की लक्ष्य प्राप्ति पर भी जोर दिया।

  इलाहाबाद मंडल के प्रवर अधीक्षक डाकघर श्री रहतमउल्लाह ने कहा कि प्रोजेक्ट ऐरो के तहत डाक सेवाओं की नियमित मानीटरिंग की जा रही है और इनके उन्नयन से जनता को काफी सहूलियत होगी एवं उन्हें डाक विभाग की आधुनिक सेवाओं का लाभ मिल सकेगा। इन डाकघरों के प्रोजेक्ट एरो के अन्तर्गत कायाकल्प होने के साथ ही दूर-दराज ग्रामीण अंचलों में इसके लेखान्तर्गत स्थित शाखा डाकघरों की कार्यप्रणाली में भी काफी पारदर्शिता आयेगी।

   इस अवसर पर सहायक निदेशक श्री टी बी सिंह, इलाहाबाद जीपीओ के सीनियर पोस्टमास्टर मधुसुदन प्रसाद मिश्र, डाक निरीक्षक (प्रोजेक्ट ऐरो) दीपक कुमार सहायक डाक अधीक्षक (मुख्यालय) आर एन यादव सहित तमाम अधिकारी एवं कर्मचारी गण उपस्थित थे।

E-governance Award to 'Mail network optimization project' of the India Post

Its a matter of proud for Dept. of Posts that the  'Mail network optimization project' of the India Post has been bagged with E-governance Award of Central Govt. These awards are given every year by the administrative reforms wing of the ministry of personnel to states and central departments for their e-governance efforts. As against 16 awards to states, only one central department was awarded this year -- the 'mail network optimization project' of the department of posts.
In order to streamline the processes relating to processing, transmission and delivery of mail and to improve the quality of service of mail products used by the public, the Department of Posts has undertaken a number of new initiatives. Mail Network Optimization Project has been launched to optimize the existing mail network of Department of Posts and streamline core mail operations. It also seeks to bring in greater standardization and improvement in the operational processes relating to mail processing, transmission and delivery.
 Apart from India Post, states were awarded with E-governance Award. The Gujarat government seems to be on a roll these days. Following the urban development ministry asking other states to follow Gujarat models for urban infrastructure projects, Gujarat state has now bagged four of the 16 national awards for e-governance initiatives. No other state got more than two. Gujarat state was awarded for its Online Voting System (OVS), implemented successfully in the state local body polls, showing others how such a system can be useful in getting people to vote in the internet age.Besides its OVS system, Gujarat was awarded for "XLN-Xtended Licensing & Laboratory Node of Sales" of its food and drugs department, MAGIC - Mineral Administration and Governance Using ICT, and iMINE of the state mineral development corporation limited.
The other categories of awards included government process re-engineering, outstanding performance in citizen-centric service delivery, innovative use of technology in e-governance and specific social sector programmes.
Rajasthan was selected under the 'best government portal' category for Rajasthan Public Service Commission, Ajmer.
While Madhya Pradesh was awarded for its special project for assistance, rehabilitation and strengthening of handicapped (SPARSH) under 'social sector programmes' category, Bihar was awarded for its iBhuGoal project under the 'innovative use of technology in e-governance'.
The iBhuGoal is Bihar government's flagship initiative of GIS mapping of infrastructure resources in the state.
Jharkhand was selected under the category of 'exemplary re-use of ICT based solutions' for its "electronic benefit transfer" model whereas Jammu & Kashmir was awarded for its project of "measuring physical accessibility to healthcare network and population coverage modeling in the state using geo-informatics".
All the states will be presented with these awards during the national conference on e-governance in Jaipur on February 11-12.
