Baobab : Postmaster General Krishna Kumar Yadav releases a Special Cover on centuries-old Baobab tree of Jhunsi, Prayagraj

To enrich inheritance and promote environmental conservation, Postmaster General of Varanasi and Prayagraj Region, Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav releases a special cover with cancellation on the 'Baobab Tree' in a program organized at Prayagraj Head Post Office on 30th May, 2024 in order. This historical rare tree, located near the tomb of Sheikh Taki on the bank of Ganga in Jhunsi, Prayagraj, is estimated between 750 to 1350 years old and people's faith are associated with it. Director Postal Services Shri Gaurav Srivastava and Senior Superintendent Post Offices Shri Abhishek Srivastava were also present in the program.

Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav said that Prayagraj and its Sangam coast have preserved many mythological, historical and rich heritages for centuries. The 'Baobab tree' of the Adansonia Digitata species of Africa is also one of them. In such a situation, its historicity, scientific and medicinal qualities will be spread world wide through special cover with cancellation and it will also facilitate to connect it with research and tourism. Shri KK Yadav said that there has been curiosity for centuries about this ancient and huge tree located on a huge mound of soil on the left bank of the holy river Ganga in Jhunsi, it is also called 'Vilayati Imli' in folklore. It is worth noting that the past of the Jhunsi area is documented by archaeological evidence which corresponds to five cultural phases from the Chalcolithic period to the early Medieval period.

Shri Gaurav Srivastava, Director Postal Services of Prayagraj Region said that the thickness of the trunk of the 'Baobab' tree is 17.3 meters and the flower of this tree is large and the fruit is long and green in colour. It is believed that Baba Sheikh Taki Shah came here from Karachi in the 15th century, lived here. Soaking the bark of this tree in water and drinking it reduces stomach ache, heartburn, and the bark is also considered beneficial in urine infection.

Shri Abhishek Srivastava, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Prayagraj region  told that the special cover released on Baobab tree will be available for sale with price of Rs. 25 in the Philatelic Bureau, Prayagraj Head Post Office.

On this occasion, Senior Postmaster Tanveer Ahmed, Assistant Director Masoom Raza Rushdi, Rajesh Srivastava, Deputy Superintendent of Post Offices Pramila Yadav and many other officials and philatelists were present.

अपनी विरासत को समृद्ध करने एवं पर्यावरण संरक्षण को प्रोत्साहन देने के क्रम में वाराणसी एवं प्रयागराज परिक्षेत्र के पोस्टमास्टर जनरल श्री कृष्ण कुमार यादव ने प्रयागराज प्रधान डाकघर में 30 मई, 2024 को आयोजित समारोह में ‘बाओबाब वृक्ष’ पर एक विशेष आवरण व विरूपण का विमोचन किया। प्रयागराज के झूंसी में पवित्र गंगा नदी तट पर अवस्थित शेख तकी की मजार के पास मौजूद इस ऐतिहासिक दुर्लभ वृक्ष की आयु  750 से 1350 वर्ष के बीच मानी जाती है और इसके साथ तमाम किवदंतियां और लोगों की आस्था जुड़ी हुई है। समारोह में निदेशक डाक सेवाएं श्री गौरव श्रीवास्तव और प्रवर अधीक्षक डाकघर श्री अभिषेक श्रीवास्तव भी उपस्थित रहे।

पोस्टमास्टर जनरल श्री कृष्ण कुमार यादव ने कहा कि प्रयागराज और यहाँ का संगम तट सदियों से अपने अंदर तमाम पौराणिक, ऐतिहासिक और समृद्ध विरासतों को सहेजे हुए है। अफ्रीका के एडानसोनिया डिजिटाटा प्रजाति का ‘बाओबाब वृक्ष’ भी उनमें से एक है। ऐसे में इस पर विशेष डाक आवरण और विरूपण के माध्यम से इसकी ऐतिहासिकता, वैज्ञानिकता और औषधीय गुणों के बारे में देश-दुनिया में प्रसार होगा और इसे शोध और पर्यटन से भी जोड़ने में सुविधा होगी। 

श्री यादव ने कहा कि झूंसी में पवित्र नदी गंगा के बाएं किनारे पर मिट्टी के एक विशाल टीले पर स्थित इस प्राचीन व विशाल वृक्ष को लेकर सदियों से कौतुहल रहा है, जनश्रुति में इसे 'विलायती इमली' भी कहा जाता है। गौरतलब है कि झूंसी क्षेत्र का अतीत पुरातात्विक साक्ष्यों द्वारा प्रलेखित है जो ताम्रपाषाण काल से लेकर प्रारंभिक मध्ययुगीन काल तक के पांच सांस्कृतिक चरणों से मेल खाता है।

निदेशक डाक सेवाएं श्री गौरव श्रीवास्तव ने बताया कि ‘बाओबाब' वृक्ष के तने की मोटाई 17.3 मीटर है और इस वृक्ष का फूल बड़ा तथा फल लंबा और हरे रंग का होता है। ऐसी मान्यता है कि 15वीं शताब्दी में करांची से आए बाबा शेख़ तकी शाह यहाँ रहते थे। इस वृक्ष की छाल को पानी में भिगोकर पीने से पेट का दर्द, सीने की जलन कम होती है, साथ ही यूरिन इन्फेक्शन में भी छाल को लाभकारी माना जाता है।  

प्रवर अधीक्षक डाकघर श्री अभिषेक श्रीवास्तव ने बताया कि बाओबाब वृक्ष पर जारी उक्त विशेष आवरण मय विरूपण 25 रुपए में फिलेटलिक ब्यूरो, प्रयागराज प्रधान डाकघर में उपलब्ध होगा।

Postmaster General Krishna Kumar Yadav felicitated Divisional Superintends for excellent work in financial year 2023-24

Postal services are constantly creating new dimensions by adopting the latest technology. Many leading schemes have been implemented through post offices. Many facilities including letter-parcel, savings bank, insurance, India Post Payments Bank, DBT, digital banking, Aadhaar, passport, common service center are being provided under one roof in post offices. Postal employees are working like Karmayogi and connecting people with these schemes, even in remote areas. The above statement was expressed by the Postmaster General of Varanasi Region Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav during a review meeting of the performance of Divisional Heads and Sub-Divisional Heads for the financial year 2023-24. He also felicitated the Postal officials doing excellent work in various fields.

Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav told that, in the Financial Year 2023-24, 5.44 lakh new savings accounts, 2.73 lakh India Post Payments Bank accounts, 58 thousand Sukanya Samriddhi and 21 thousand Mahila Samman Savings Certificate accounts were opened in the post offices of Varanasi Region. 8.69 lakh people availed Aadhaar services through post offices and IPPB, while 25 thousand people applied for passport in Post Offices. In Varanasi Region, revenue of Rs. 64.94 crore was earned from savings bank services, Rs. 8.03 crore from IPPB, Rs. 11.44 crore from speed post and parcel and Rs. 36.2 crore from postal operation. A total premium of Rs. 37.77 crore was collected in Postal Life Insurance and Rs. 16.20 crore in Rural Postal Life Insurance. So far, 1,020 villages have been made 'Sampoorna Sukanya Samriddhi Gram' and 519 villages have been made 'Sampoorna Bima Gram' in Varanasi Region.

Postal officials were felicitated-

Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav felicitated the Senior Superintendent Varanasi East Division for Aadhaar enrollment and updation, Postal Life Insurance and parcel revenue, Vinay Kumar, Superintendent Varanasi West Division for highest Sukanya Samriddhi Account, Speed Post Revenue and excellence in postal operation and business. Along with this, Parmanand Kumar, Superintendent Jaunpur Division for India Post Payments Bank, Pradeep Kumar Pathak, Superintendent Ghazipur Division for Mahila Samman Savings Certificate and Rural Postal Life Insurance business whereas Hemant Kumar, Superintendent Ballia Division for opening of maximum savings accounts and parcel & speed post delivery.

Along with the Divisions, officers doing excellent work at the Sub-Division level were also felicitated by Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav. These include Assistant Superintendent Varanasi town Sarvesh Kumar Singh, Assistant Superintendent Varanasi West Indrajit Pal and Assistant Superintendent Pt. डाक सेवाएं नवीनतम टेक्नोलॉजी अपनाते हुए नित्य नए आयाम रच रही हैं। तमाम अग्रणी योजनाओं को डाकघरों के माध्यम से प्रमुखता से लागू किया गया है। डाकघरों में एक ही छत के नीचे पत्र-पार्सल, बचत बैंक, बीमा, इण्डिया पोस्ट पेमेंट्स बैंक, डीबीटी, डिजिटल बैंकिंग, आधार, पासपोर्ट, कॉमन सर्विस सेंटर जैसी सुविधाएँ उपलब्ध कराई जा रही हैं। डाककर्मी कर्मयोगी की भाँति कार्य करते हुए लोगों को इन योजनाओं से जोड़ रहे हैं। उक्त उद्गार वाराणसी परिक्षेत्र के  पोस्टमास्टर जनरल श्री कृष्ण कुमार यादव ने मण्डलाध्यक्षों एवं उपमंडलाध्यक्षों के वित्तीय वर्ष 2023-24 के कार्यों की समीक्षा बैठक के दौरान व्यक्त किये। विभिन्न क्षेत्रों में उत्कृष्ट कार्य करने वाले अधीक्षकों, उपमंडलीय निरीक्षकों, पोस्टमास्टरों को उन्होंने सम्मानित कर हौसलाअफजाई भी की।

पोस्टमास्टर जनरल श्री कृष्ण कुमार यादव ने समीक्षा पश्चात बताया कि, वाराणसी परिक्षेत्र के डाकघरों में वित्तीय वर्ष 2023-24 में 5.44 लाख नए बचत खाते, 2.73 लाख इंडिया पोस्ट पेमेंट्स बैंक खाते, 58 हजार सुकन्या समृद्धि व 21 हजार महिला सम्मान बचत पत्र खाते खोले गए। 8.69 लाख लोगों ने डाकघरों तथा आईपीपीबी के माध्यम से आधार सेवाओं का लाभ उठाया, वहीं 25 हजार लोगों ने डाकघरों से पासपोर्ट बनवाया। वाराणसी परिक्षेत्र में बचत बैंक सेवाओं से 64.94 करोड़, आईपीपीबी से 8.03 करोड़, स्पीड पोस्ट व पार्सल से 11.44 करोड़ रुपये और पोस्टल ऑपरेशन से 36.2 करोड़ रुपये का राजस्व प्राप्त हुआ। डाक जीवन बीमा में 37.77 करोड़ रूपये व ग्रामीण डाक जीवन बीमा में 16.20 करोड़ रुपये का कुल प्रीमियम जमा हुआ। वाराणसी परिक्षेत्र में अभी तक 1,020 गांवों को 'सम्पूर्ण सुकन्या समृद्धि ग्राम' और 519 गांवों को 'सम्पूर्ण बीमा ग्राम' बनाया जा चुका है।

डाक अधिकारियों का हुआ सम्मान-

पोस्टमास्टर जनरल श्री कृष्ण कुमार यादव ने वित्तीय वर्ष 2023-24 में उत्कृष्ट कार्य हेतु प्रवर डाकघर अधीक्षक, वाराणसी पूर्वी मंडल को आधार नामांकन व अद्यतनीकरण, डाक जीवन बीमा एवं पार्सल राजस्व,  डाकघर  अधीक्षक, वाराणसी पश्चिमी मंडल विनय कुमार को सर्वाधिक सुकन्या समृद्धि खाता, स्पीड पोस्ट राजस्व तथा पोस्टल ऑपरेशन व व्यवसाय में उत्कृष्टता हेतु सम्मानित किया। इसके साथ ही जौनपुर मंडल के डाकघर  अधीक्षक परमानंद कुमार को इण्डिया पोस्ट पेमेंट्स बैंक, गाजीपुर मंडल के डाकघर अधीक्षक प्रदीप कुमार पाठक को महिला सम्मान बचत पत्र व ग्रामीण डाक जीवन बीमा व्यवसाय हेतु और बलिया मण्डल के डाक अधीक्षक हेमंत कुमार को सर्वाधिक बचत खाते खोलने व पार्सल एवं स्पीड पोस्ट वितरण हेतु सम्मानित किया।

Postal department launches Voter awareness campaign for voters participation in Lok Sabha Election 2024

Department of Posts has taken up the responsibility of making voters aware about voting in the Lok Sabha elections under the ongoing voter awareness campaign under the 'Sweep Program' of the Election Commission of India. Postmaster General of Varanasi Region Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav started this campaign at Varanasi Cantt. Head Post Office. He said that a large number of public reaches the Post Offices daily for their work, so the Post Offices are right place for voter awareness. This massive campaign will run through a total of 1,729 post offices under Varanasi Region including Varanasi, Bhadohi, Chandauli, Jaunpur, Ghazipur and Ballia districts.

On this occasion, Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav appealed to the people to ensure their participation in the great festival of democracy. On one hand, people are being made aware by stamping ‘Chunav ka Parv, Desh ka Garv’ and Varanasi Lok Sabha Election Voting date June 1, 2024 on the mails delivered through Post Offices, whereas, Postmen will also motivate to the people to use their voting rights to strengthen democracy in the country along with delivery of mails.  

Further, Postal employees will also motivate customers coming to the Post Offices for various works like speed post and registry booking, opening of POSB and IPPB account, Aadhaar enrollment and updation etc. to cast their vote. Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav said that Voters are being motivated to vote through letters reaching homes of lakhs of people. Especially the target has been set to reach the awareness message to the elderly, youth, women and first voters as well as disabled voters in every situation. He administered the voters' oath to all the postal employees present and also requested all the employees of the Postal Department to play an active role in the door-to-door voter awareness campaign.

Lok Sabha Election 2024 : डाक विभाग डाक बाँटने के साथ, मतदान के लिए भी करेगा प्रेरित - पोस्टमास्टर जनरल कृष्ण कुमार यादव

डाकिया डाक लाया, डाकिया बैंक लाया और अब डाकिया देश में लोकतंत्र को सुदृढ़ बनाने के लिए लोगों को मतदान के लिए भी प्रेरित करेगा। भारतीय चुनाव आयोग के ‘स्वीप कार्यक्रम’ के अंतर्गत चल रहे मतदाता जागरूकता अभियान के अन्तर्गत लोकसभा चुनाव में मतदान के लिए मतदाताओं को जागरूक करने का बीड़ा अब डाक विभाग ने भी उठाया है। वाराणसी एवं प्रयागराज परिक्षेत्र के पोस्टमास्टर जनरल श्री कृष्ण कुमार यादव ने वाराणसी कैंट प्रधान डाकघर में इसका शुभारंभ किया। वाराणसी परिक्षेत्र के अधीन कुल 1729 डाकघरों के माध्यम से यह वृहद् अभियान चलेगा। वहीं प्रयागराज परिक्षेत्र के 1960 डाकघरों के माध्यम से यह वृहद् अभियान चलेगा। 

इस अवसर पर पोस्टमास्टर जनरल श्री कृष्ण कुमार यादव ने लोगों से लोकतंत्र के महापर्व में अपनी भागीदारी सुनिश्चित करने की अपील की। एक तरफ डाकघरों के माध्यम से बँटने वाली डाक पर 'चुनाव का पर्व, देश का गर्व' और वाराणसी लोक सभा निर्वाचन मतदान दिनांक 1 जून, 2024 की मुहर लगाकर लोगों को जागरूक किया जा रहा है, वहीं डाकिया भी डाक वितरण के दौरान लोगों से अपने मताधिकार का इस्तेमाल करने की अपील करेंगे। इसके साथ ही डाकघरों में स्पीड पोस्ट व रजिस्ट्री बुकिंग, आईपीपीबी और बचत खाता खुलवाने, आधार नामांकन व अपडेशन इत्यादि तमाम कार्यों के लिए आने वाले लोगों को भी डाककर्मी अपना वोट देने के लिए प्रेरित करेंगे। 

श्री यादव ने कहा  कि लाखों लोगों के घरों तक पहुंचने वाली चिट्ठियों के माध्यम से मतदाताओं को मतदान करने के लिए प्रेरित करना है। खास कर बुजुर्ग, युवा, महिला और फर्स्ट वोटर्स के साथ-साथ दिव्यांग मतदाताओं तक हर हालत में जागरूकता संदेश पहुँचाने का लक्ष्य रखा गया है। उन्होंने मौजूद समस्त डाककर्मियों को मतदाता शपथ दिलाई।

वाराणसी पश्चिम मंडल के अधीक्षक डाकघर श्री विनय कुमार ने कहा कि पोस्ट ऑफिस में दैनिक रूप से बड़ी संख्या में आम जनता अपने कार्यों के लिए पहुंचती है। इस लिहाज से पोस्ट ऑफिस मतदाता जागरूकता के लिए भी उचित स्थान है। उन्होंने डाक विभाग के समस्त कर्मियों को डोर-टू-डोर मतदाता जागरूकता अभियान में अपनी सक्रिय भूमिका निभाने का अनुरोध किया।
