For the convenience of the public, many new services are being expanded in the Post offices. In this sequence, now the benefit of 'Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana' can also be availed from the Common Service Centre established in the Post offices. Considering the reach of the Postal department in rural areas, this will be of great convenience to the farmers. Giving the above information, Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav, Postmaster General, Varanasi Region said that to enrol under 'Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana' through Post offices, farmer's Khatauni, ID card (Aadhaar card, PAN card, Voter ID card, driving license) and the bank passbooks are to be brought. A premium of 2% and 1.5% will have to be paid for Kharif and Rabi crops respectively. The last date of registration for covering Kharif crops under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana is 31 July 2022.
Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav further told that the prime objective of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana is to provide compensation as well as protection for crop loss to farmers and their families due to natural calamities. Under this, protection is provided to the crop from pre-sowing to post-harvest. This scheme is also helpful in strengthening the families of farmers and their economic condition. For extensive coverage of farmers under this scheme, a special campaign will be launched for Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana in 1699 Post offices under Varanasi, Chandauli, Bhadohi, Jaunpur, Ghazipur and Ballia districts under Varanasi region, so that its benefits can reach to more and more farmers.
