Department of Posts made Special arrangement for Raksha Bandhan Festival, 1.76 lakh Rakhi mails delivered from Post Offices in Varanasi Region

In the hi-tech society, the importance of silk threads of Rakhi is still intact amidst the virtual relationships. The Postal Department made all the arrangements for this festival including launch of waterproof designer envelopes for sending Rakhi, special sorting and delivery of Rakhi mails till late evening. Postal Officials are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that each ‘rakhi’ reaches its intended ‘kalai (wrist)’ on time. “These ‘dakiyas’ display exemplary commitment and spend the whole day delivering ‘rakhi’ on priority basis to ensure that all the Rakhi mails reach their destinations on time,” said Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav, Postmaster General of Varanasi Region.

Postmaster General of Varanasi Region Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav said that more than 1.15 lakh Rakhi mails were sent to the various parts of country and even abroad, while 1.76 lakh Rakhi mails were delivered by the Post Offices in Varanasi Region. Special arrangements have been made for prompt processing of Rakhi mails from the booking to delivery point. On August 30, about 23 thousand Rakhi mails were delivered by the Post Offices in Varanasi Region.


Postmaster General Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav said that the importance of Raksha Bandhan was seen not only in India but also in foreign countries. 1,125 rakhis were sent by Speed Post and Registered Letter from Post Offices of Varanasi Region to countries like USA, UK, Singapore, UAE, Germany, Saudi Arabia, France, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Canada, Oman etc. At the same time, sisters living abroad also sent Rakhis to their brothers through the Postal Department, which were delivered immediately through postmen. “Delivering rakhis on time and seeing the joy in the eyes of the receiver makes us happy. At times the receiver’s joy is all the more when the Rakhi mails are delivered at the last minute. People thank Post Office profusely and this means a lot to us,” said Postmaster General Mr. Yadav.

Postmaster General Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav said We’re booking and delivering more rakhis than before because to date it is the cheapest mode of delivering the rakhi mails. Along with booking of Rakhi mail, special arrangements were made by the Postal Department for special sorting and their quick delivery from Post Offices. We are delighted when we see faces beaming with joy on receiving rakhis, said Mr. Yadav. The Department of Posts, which has been spreading happiness through letters, has also given a new dimension to this festival of relationships, added Mr. Yadav.
