'My Stamp' inaugurated in Varanasi by KK Yadav, Director Postal Services


You have seen, photos of Gandhi, Nehru or any other famous personalities on postal stamps up to, but now there can be your photograph too on postal stamps, and this is possible by ‘My Stamp’ scheme of Dept. of Posts, which was inaugurated by Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav, Director Postal Services, Allahabad Region on 6th Sept. at Varanasi Head Post Office in a function.


On inauguration of 'My Stamp" scheme, Director Postal Services, Mr. Krishna Kumar Yadav said that this facility is available in some countries but this is new for India. In the year 2011, this facility has been formally launched in World Postage Stamp Exhibition in Feb. 2011 at New Delhi. After it, this has been launched in some cities of India and people liked it so much and thousands of people enjoyed the feelings of having photographs on postal stamps. Due to its popularity, this scheme is now being started in Varanasi. He told that this service was earlier available at Lucknow, Agra and Fatehpur Sikri only and now in Varanasi too. Further, Director Mr. Yadav told that now "My Stamp" theme is based on famous tourist places. My stamp service is now available in ten themes which include Greetings, Tajmahal, Red Fort, Qutubminar, Hawa Mahal, Mysore Palace, Fairy Queen, Port Blair Islands, Ajanta caves and St. Francis Church.


Director Postal Services, Mr. Krishna Kr. Yadav, told that to avail facility of  my stamp service one have to fill a form and submit it with his/her photographs along with Rs. 300/- only. In one sheet there can be 12 photographs along with postal stamps. For this customers can give their photograph to Postal Dept which will scan and then make it a beautiful postal stamp. If someone wants to spot clicking, this facility is also available. A five rupees postage stamps, having customers photographs can be sent anywhere in the country. This facility is available only for living person.

Director Postal Services, Mr. KK Yadav stated that there can be no better way to gift anyone and it is not costly as beautiful photographs of customers will be there on 12 postage stamps in just Rs. 300/- only. It can give to family members, friends as well as nearby persons. If somebody heartily loves anyone, it is a great chance to show love to him/her.

On this occasion Sri H.G.Verma, Sr. Postmaster, Varanasi Head Post Office, Sri T.B.Singh, SPOs Varanasi West Dn. and other officers and staff were also present.
