Philately, a new craze in city

KANPUR: The craze of philately is increasing in the city as more than ten thousand people are involved in this business as of now. A philately bureau exist in Kanpur and about 10 thousand persons are registered with this bureau, which buy tickets on a regular basis.Detailing about philately, Krishna Kumar Yadav said, "Any person can open a philatelic deposit account with a minimum balance of Rs 200. After that every month, that person will be sent a new postal-ticket by means of registered post."

He further added, "The craze of philately in the city can be understood from the fact that about 2,000 persons opened philatelic deposit account in the city in last financial year 2008-09. The person who buys ticket on streets are not included in the data-base available with the postal department." People from various sections of society like government officials, businessmen, engineers, stock exchange workers etc are big fans of philately. Philatelic bureau, Kanpur sends ticket to Mumbai, Jaipur, Kolkata, Udaipur, Bengaluru and other places which have moved away from the city after change of jobs.
